Starting Monday, July 12, 2021
The Greencastle Water Utility will commence its fire hydrant flushing operations on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm and continue to 10:00 pm. Work will start in the outlying areas of the community. Work will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 13 and 14 from 2:00 pm and continue to 10:00 pm in more central areas of the City. All hydrant flushing work should be complete by Thursday morning, barring any unforeseen difficulties such as bad weather.
Work to flush the hydrants will start each afternoon. Crews will be starting in different areas of the city and will work through the evening. The work is part of the city’s regular maintenance program for the water system.
Residents may wish to refrain from doing laundry as sometimes the flushing process may stir up some rust or sediment in the water mains.
