IIVA AND PARTICIPATING INDIANA VENUES LAUNCH ‘SOCK ON’ DRIVE TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS

Drive Runs Jan. 15 – Feb. 14, 2021, More Info at https://www.indianavenuealliance.org/sock-on

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, Jan. 15, 2021) – To help Indy’s homeless population stay warm this winter, the Indiana Independent Venue Alliance (IIVA) has launched SOCK ON. The statewide clothing drive will collect new socks at various venues in Indianapolis starting Friday, Jan. 15 through Sunday, Feb 14. The IIVA has partnered with Horizon House (1033 E. Washington St, Indianapolis) – a full-service agency that connects individuals experiencing homelessness with integrated, comprehensive services – to ensure donated items are getting to the people and communities that need them most.

WHY:

After nearly a year of fighting for venues to stay open in the wake of COVID-19’s elimination of the music industry, the IIVA understands firsthand the importance of appreciating even the smallest act of kindness. Donations from live music fans have been the driving force that has helped our independent venues survive for the last 10 months. With winter here, and many residents in need, the IIVA is giving back to help our friends currently experiencing hard times. Lend a hand and show your support with something often taken for granted – a new pair of socks. Sock donations will be delivered to Horizon House at the completion of the drive.

ABOUT THE INDIANA INDEPENDENT VENUE ALLIANCE:

The Indiana Independent Venue Alliance (IIVA) is a not-for-profit organization that empowers and preserves Indiana’s live music community. IIVA is an alliance of Indiana-based independent concert venues, live music promoters and music festivals. As small business owners, the IIVA community plays a critical role in our state’s music and culture economy. These cultural hubs are centerpieces of our neighborhoods. As businesses they provide highly skilled jobs, contribute to the tax base and drive tourism dollars.

IIVA businesses were among the first to be closed during the current pandemic and will be the last to open. The financial recovery process far exceeds opening the front doors, requiring solutions unique to this industry to keep our employees, fans and artists safe. The organization is relentlessly dedicated to protecting and supporting our community of independent statewide venues.

The IIVA is an active member of NIVA, National Independent Venue Association.
