|HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces construction is underway on the new traffic signal installation on State Road 267 at County Road 1000 North. This is north of Brownsburg. It is anticipated the traffic signal will be activated prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Calumet Civil Contractors, Inc. was awarded the $3.3 million contract. This project also includes resurfacing S.R. 267 from just south of Highland Green Drive, which is nearly one half of one mile north of I-74 to I-65. This work is scheduled to begin in the spring of next year and be completed by the end of August.

In 2019, Indiana Criminal Justice Institute reported that distracted driving from mobile devices was a factor in at least 1,263 crashes and three fatal crashes. To make Hoosier roads safer, Governor Eric J. Holcomb signed the Indiana Hands-Free law to reduce distracted driving across the state. Beginning July 1, 2020, drivers are prohibited from holding a mobile device, except in emergencies, while their vehicles are moving.
