Vaccine Trials on Hold

INDIANAPOLIS — The late stages of a COVID-19 vaccine trial planned for Indianapolis are on hold after a patient in the UK became ill during treatments. IU School of Medicine was in line to host the next phase of clinical trials for the AstraZeneca study. That is delayed after one of the vaccine recipients came down with a “potentially unexplained” illness, according to medical officials. Medical officials with Purdue University say that while there are some risks associated with any clinical trial, illnesses don’t usually happen this late in.
