VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation advises motorists to be prepared for up to 20 minute closures on State Road 159 between Riley and Lewis as the contractor places full depth patches in certain areas. These are scheduled to be completed by August 19. INDOT is encouraging motorists to seek an alternate route or add more time to their commute.
The resurfacing of S.R. 159 is expected to be completed by the second week of October.
The contract was awarded to Wabash Valley Asphalt for $7.4 million. The project will patch and resurface S.R. 159 from S.R. 46 to S.R. 246 and it also includes replacing a small structure on S.R. 159 just west of Blackhawk. That work is scheduled to begin next spring.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
