Indianapolis, Ind.- Indiana Women’s Prison (IWP) Warden Laurie Johnson is pleased to announce the following promotions that were effective June 28th, 2020; Donna Totten to Classification Supervisor, Sarah Schulz to Correctional Lieutenant, and Sarah Breeden to Correctional Sergeant.
|After graduating from Ball State University in 1994, Donna Totten began her career with the IDOC at the Indiana Girls School as a Correctional Counselor. For 15 years, she worked with female and male juveniles in several capacities. In 2009, she transferred to Adult Populations to begin working at the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC).
While at RDC, she served as a Classification Specialist and worked with Parole Violators. Ms. Totten said, “I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the great staff of the Indiana Women’s Prison.” Ms. Totten is also a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM) and serves as a Team Leader for Central CISM.
Warden Johnson stated, “Please join me in congratulating Donna Totten and assist her as she transitions into a new facility with new duties. Congratulations Ms. Totten and welcome to IWP!”
|Lt. Sarah Schulz began her IDOC career at IWP in May 2015 as a Correctional Officer and promoted to the rank of Correctional Sergeant in 2019. Sarah is trained as a Certified Treatment Specialist (CTS) and is a Field Training Officer (FTO). She is also Restricted Housing Unit (RHU) trained, Disciplinary Hearing Board (DHB) trained, and Firearms Certified. Sarah is a member of the Quick Response Team (QRT) and also serves as a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
Lt. Sarah Schulz stated she is looking forward to the challenge of her new position and the opportunity to help shape other Correctional Professionals. She shared her daily motivation is helping others. Warden Johnson stated,“I look forward to seeing the positive impact Lieutenant Schulz will make in her new role, in addition to the five years of dedicated service she provided.”
|Sgt. Sarah Breeden began her career with IDOC in April of 2019, serving as a correctional officer at IWP. Since joining the department, Sarah completed training to become a Certified Treatment Specialist (CTS) and a Field Training Officer (FTO). She is also member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), is firearms certified and is trained to work in the Restricted Housing Unit (RHU). Additionally Sarah is instructor certified for First Aid, CPR and instructs the Joint Understanding Cooperation Program (JUCP) training. Sgt. Breeden is presently continuing her education in Criminal Justice at Ivy Tech.
Sergeant Breeden stated she wanted to become a sergeant to better assist both staff and offenders. She shared her daily motivation is to assist in changing just one person’s perspective each day. Warden Johnson commented at the Peers Recognizing Others Providing Support (PROPS) award recognition, “Double PROPs to Sarah Breeden! I am pleased to promote her to the position of Correctional Sergeant and proud to see her coworkers also recognize her with a PROPS award.”
