Extra Mile Award’ Presented to Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

New Castle, Ind. – Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) Recruitment and Retention Coordinator Jackie Algozine was presented the “Extra Mile Award” by Erik Kruper, the supervisor of the Gary Parole Division for the IDOC Division of Parole Services.

“This award is normally presented to a member of the Parole Division, but based on the great support Jackie has provided, she definitely earned this recognition,” Erik Kruper said. “She’s enthusiastic and really passionate about her work and is such a great fit with our team.”

Jackie Algozine has been working as a Recruitment and Retention Coordinator since October 2019 covering the Westville Correctional Facility, LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility and Gary Parole District #6.  She began her career in the criminal justice field after graduating from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.  Prior to joining the IDOC Jackie also completed an internship with the Monroe County Adult Probation as a Deputy Substance Abuse Probation Officer.  Jackie was also previously employed for 10 years with Porter County, IN as a community corrections problem-solving court coordinator for Porter County’s Prisons and Community Together (PACT) program.

Algozine has a passion for working with the Department of Correction and is excited to bring her experience and passion to help create a more dynamically healthy and sustainable IDOC workforce.  “We are very proud of Jackie”, said Molly McCurdy, the Recruitment and Retention Manager for the IDOC. “In the short time she has been with us, she has done an outstanding job building relationships at her facilities.”
