Carmen C. VanHorn, 83, of Howesville, Indiana, was called home by his Creator, May 14, 2020, at Hendricks County Hospital in Danville, Indiana.
Carmen was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 22, 1937. Carmen attended Lipscomb University where he studied Liberal Arts in Nashville, Tennessee. Most of his life he worked for Kroger in various areas of the store. Although Carmen never married or had children, he made up for that through the love he showed to all of his nieces and nephews. He was the uncle that all the family children couldn’t wait to visit. He gave all of his nieces and nephews hilarious memories that will last forever. He was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed basketball, baseball, and football. He was a HUGE fan of the New England Patriots and the Duke University Blue Devils. Carmen was a walking encyclopedia. He knew things most people had never even heard of. He loved to read and was a true history buff.
Carmen is survived by his siblings Roberta Brownewell (Danny), Jerry Van Horn and Larry Van Horn (Gayla) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louie and Letha VanHorn, SueAnn VanHorn and Dixie White (sisters) and Richard Dean VanHorn (brother), and Gary Van Horn (nephew).
Private family services will be held at 1pm Monday, May 18, 2020 with funeral immediately following at 2pm. Burial will follow at Peavey Cemetery near Howesville, Indiana.
