On Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 6:29 PM the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 3920 South Tiffany Lane regarding a domestic dispute.
Two deputies from the sheriff‘s office arrived initially and as they began to approach on foot they heard a gunshot. A third deputy arrived at that time and shortly after exiting his squad car, he heard the suspect give him commands to leave and then another shot was fired towards the deputy. Several additional shots were fired from the suspect.
Deputies set up a perimeter on the residence and shortly after this, the suspect exited the house and surrendered. The suspect, Mark W. Beam, 33 years old, was taken into custody. No shots were fired from law enforcement.
Beam resides at the 3920 South Tiffany Lane address. He was transported to a local hospital and once released, will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He will initially be charged with Attempted Murder, Domestic Battery, Intimidation and Criminal Recklessness.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Crawfordsville Police Department, Indiana DNR Law Enforcement, Waynetown Police and Crawfordsville Fire Department.
