Henry County – A single vehicle crash early this morning claimed the life of a New Castle man and sent four other people to area hospitals. Henry County Deputies were summoned to the scene on Brown Rd. at CR 500 East at around 2 a.m. to a report of a roll over crash with multiple injuries. Deputies arrived to find a Chevrolet Tahoe off the left side (north side) of Brown Rd.
Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Investigators Troopers Mark Hanna, Scott Keegan and Sergeant Danielle Elwood-Henderson were summoned to the scene to assist, and later it was determined Trooper Hanna would take the crash investigation. The preliminary investigation by Trooper Hanna revealed the Tahoe was east bound when entering a right hand curve and, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the left side of the road and rolled over coming to rest on its wheels.
The crash claimed the life of back seat passenger Kodie Skelton, age 19 of New Castle. The driver, Logan Chambers, age 18 of Kennard, along with front seat passenger Amanda Poland, age 17 of New Castle, and back seat passengers Logan Barkey, age 18 of Spiceland and Elizabeth Wallace, age 18 of New Castle, were all transported from the scene by EMS to area hospitals. Investigators believe at this time that seat belts were not in use by the vehicle occupants. The investigation remains ongoing.
