Betty Ann Simonson

Betty Ann Simonson, 86 of Terre Haute, formerly of Cadiz, KY, passed away April 22, 2020 at 10:20pm at her home at Westminster Village. She was born May 8, 1933 in Clay County, the daughter of Porter J. Miller and Merle E. Rissler Miller. Betty graduated from Staunton High School.
On September 6, 1958, Betty was united in marriage to Keith Simonson.
Betty worked at IBM in Greencastle, and then Taylor Graphics. She also worked as an executive secretary to the president of the First Citizens Bank while they were living in Raleigh, N.C.
When her children were young, Betty attended Harmony Community Church, and was always actively involved in the PTA, and the Van Buren Band Boosters. She also was a member of the Clay County Women’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Later, she and Keith moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, then to Cadiz, Kentucky. They became active in the Cadiz Baptist Church. Betty sang in the choir and was a volunteer in the prayer room at church. She also helped with the Backpack Ministry, Upward Basketball, Vacation Bible School and Helping Hands.
She is survived by her husband R. Keith Simonson of Terre Haute; son, Chris Simonson (Vendie) of Ormond Beach, FL; two daughters, Julianne Moss of Cadiz and Jennifer Hawkins (Rich) of Brazil; grandchildren, Jeremy Simonson, Jason Mullenix (Allison), Cindy Pflueger (Chris), Jaime Pearson (Ryan), Kelsie Simonson (Jeremy), Ashley Bonte (Jason), Corey Simonson (Hannah), Alex Swaim, and Nathan Stout; great-grandchildren, Tyler Newman, Taylor, Zoe and Logan Bonte, Brendan Crague, Addison Latham, Adalynn Light, Brielle Simonson, Kade and Kenzie Pflueger and Betty and Archer Mullenix; two sisters in law; Sue Douglas, and Sherrie Slack. Two brothers in law; Phil Simonson (Donna), and Terry “Dink” Simonson (Marylou), many special nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a dear twin sister, Bonnie McCullough, two brothers, Jimmy Miller and Larry Miller; one son, Rick Simonson; nephew, Dale McCullough; sons in law, Steve Swaim and Terry Moss; two brothers in law, Jim McCullough, and John Slack.
Due to the current restrictions, cremation was chosen. The family would like to encourage family and friends to write a special memory of Betty and send them in care of French Funeral Home, P.O.
