Indianapolis District Welcomes Nine Rookie Troopers to the Post

Indianapolis, IN – Seven new Indiana State Troopers reported for duty to the Indiana State Police Post in Indianapolis.  The troopers are from a class of 37 recruits who just graduated from the 79th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy Thursday December 19th, 2019 . During the 25 week training period the recruits received over 600 hours of classroom instruction as well as nearly 400 hours of hands-on practical and scenario based training exercises. These troopers will now be assigned to train with veteran troopers for the next 13 weeks before receiving their own patrol cars for solo patrol. The Indianapolis District consists of Marion, Hamilton, Boone, Hendricks, Johnson, Shelby and Hancock Counties.

Indianapolis District Commander Lieutenant Jeffrey Payne said, “We are proud to welcome these men and women to the Indianapolis District and look forward to them joining our veteran troopers who serve each of the communities in our district.”

1Skyler Ashcraft is a native of Fountain City Indiana and a 2015 graduate of Northeastern High School. After high school Skyler attended Indiana Tech where he earned a Crime Scene Analysis Degree. He currently resides in Hancock County with his Fiance and one year old son.
2Steven Davis is a native of Gary Indiana and a 1998 graduate of Andrean High School. He went on to study Psychology at Purdue University. Steven currently resides in  Morgan County with his wife and two children.
3Kendra Gonzalez is from Oakwood Illinois where she graduated from Oakwood High School in 2015. After high school she received a Bachelor Degree from Indiana State University and an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Danville Area Community College. Gonzalez currently resides in Hendricks County with her Fiance.
5Hope Mueller is a native of Avon Indiana and a 2015 graduate of Avon High School. After high school Hope attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she majored in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice and Criminology. She graduated from University of Tennessee in 2019 just prior to beginning the State Police Academy. Mueller was an intern with the Indiana State Police during the summer of 2018. She currently resides in Hendricks County with her Fiance.
4Timothy Nguyen is from St. Louis Missouri and graduated from North Central High School (Missouri) in 2013. After high school Timothy enlisted in the United State Marine Corps where he still serves as a Corporal in the Reserves. Nguyen currently lives in Hamilton County with his wife and three children.
6Grover Scott is from Camby Indiana and a 2015 graduate of Mooresville High School. Grover received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from IUPUI. He currently resides in Morgan County.
7Adarius Washington is a native of Indianapolis and a 2011 graduate of Warren Central High School. He went on to attend Indiana State University where he majored in Criminal Justice. In college Washington was a two time All American in hurdles and a 2016 Rio Olympic Trials Qualifier. While in the Academy he broke the record for the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in the 300 meter dash.  Adarius currently lives in Hendricks County with his wife.
