Community Foundation Announces Fall Grant Awards

Greencastle, IN – December 6, 2019–The Putnam County Community Foundation announced $97,962.00 in grant awards at the 2019 Fall Grant Awards Breakfast.  Jeff Blaydes, Chair of the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee, gratefully acknowledged the Breakfast sponsor: Old National Bank.  The Breakfast was catered by Almost Home and held in the Community Room of Area 30 Career Center.

 

The early morning crowd was entertained by an ensemble from Greencastle High School. The ensemble of clarinets, trombones and percussion showcased the new drum set purchased through a grant from the Community Foundation sought by the Greencastle Music Boosters.

 

Dean Gambill, Director of Community Development, announced the awards from the Community Foundation’s unrestricted funds.  Each grantee represented explained their project and the impact it can have on Putnam County. “We are fortunate to have so many great nonprofits who seek to make things better in Putnam County,” said Gambill.

 

Youth Philanthropy Grants were recognized totaling $550.00.  These grants are for youth-led community service projects.  The 2019 Fall Youth Philanthropy Grant recipients are:

The organizations receiving 2019 Fall Endowment Builder Grants are:

 

Greencastle Civic League………………………………………… $4,000

Reelsville/Washington Township Volunteer Fire………… $2,050

 

To qualify for an Endowment Builder Grant an organization must establish or have an existing endowment with the Community Foundation and submit a fundraising plan to build the endowment. The Community Foundation matches one dollar for every two dollars that the organization raises.
