Mary Jane Jones


Mary Jane Jones, 92 of Bowling Green, passed away November 24, 2019 at 8:47pm at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility surrounded by her family.
She was born October 23, 1927 in Clay County, the daughter of Plummer Knox and Iva Clingerman Knox. She graduated from Bowling Green High School. As a young lady she worked for a time at the Simplicity Pattern Company in Terre Haute. On July 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Charles Harland Jones. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. They lived and worked on the family farm as long as they were able.
She was an active member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church serving in many areas including the Lady’s group, WSCS. Mary was a board member Habitat for Humanity; an active participant in the Bowling Green Old Settlers and was a devoted servant in the Emmaus Community working many walks and could be counted on as the head of the kitchen.
Mary was not one to have idle hands. She drove the farm trucks, milked cows, gardened, canned, made quilts for all her family and was always one to provide food for a grieving family or anyone with a need. She was a caregiver to her mother and other family and friends all her life.
As a young girl, she enjoyed coon hunting with her dad and had her own shot gun. She always found great joy in mushroom hunting and even could find ginseng.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Charles Warren Jones; her husband Charles Harland Jones, on November 3, 2018; two brothers, Russell Knox and William Knox; a great-grandson Dylan Keiser.
Survivors include her children; Dorothy Keiser (Forest), Wayne Jones (Mary), Keith Jones (Paula); 7 grandchildren, Cheryl Stearley, Melinda Sheese (Gary), Kevin Keiser (Teresa), Jeremy Jones (Jonelle), Jeffrey Jones (Miranda), Christopher Jones, Patricia Hall (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Ethan Sheese, Joshua Sheese, Shelby Sheese, Colton Sheese, Curtis Stearley, Kenzie Pittman (Bryce), Gracie Jones, Porter Jones, Elaina Jones, Lynna Jones, Elliot Jones; step-great-grandchildren, Travis Beltz, Robert Beltz, Andi Burozski (Adam), Leeghan Clifford, and Kinley Pair; great-great-grandchildren, Katherine Moses and Oliver Pittman; sisters, Thelma Swank and sister in law, Violet Knox; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Saturday at 11:00am at the Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastors David Stephens and Mark Strahm officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Bowling Green.
