INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention (Partners) inducted three new members at its 22nd annual conference and trade show on September 18, 2019. As members, each organization pledges to implement voluntary environmental initiatives at its facility, share information and expertise with other businesses, foster environmental stewardship among its employees, and help raise public awareness.
Encamp, Inc. is an environmental technology company that develops software for automated reporting, organizing environmental compliance requirements and due dates, and tracking down information about regulated facilities. They are focused on building tools that help companies achieve environmental goals. Encamp, Inc. “aspires to a future where good-for-business and good-for-the-planet go hand in hand”. Encamp, Inc. has received the 2019 New Tech Startup of the Year Mira Award, has been operating for 18 months and currently employs ten people. The facility is located in Indianapolis.
Terra Vitae Environmental Solutions LLC, is an environmental consulting and remediation firm with the desire to help create a world where environmental stewardship and industrial productivity go hand in hand rather than being at odds. The name Terra Vitae means “country life” which to this vibrant two-member team really means “being self-sufficient, utilizing but not exploiting local natural resources, and always remaining cognizant of how our actions affect the ecosystem”. They have launched several voluntary environmental initiatives prior to being inducted into the Partners for Pollution Prevention. The company is located in Trafalgar, Ind.
Jasper Engines & Transmissions was founded in 1942 and is one of the nation’s largest mass remanufacturers of a diverse line of drive train components which includes diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, rear axle assemblies, diesel air and fuel components, marine products and electric motors. The Partners membership consists of four facilities located in Jasper and one facility located in Leavenworth, Ind. These facilities have launched several voluntary environmental initiatives prior to being inducted into the Partners for Pollution Prevention. Jasper Engines & Transmissions has made “Producing the highest quality while utilizing the least amount of resources” a Core Value for the company. Jasper Engines & Transmissions employs over 2,800 Associate-Owners and JASPER products are distributed through a network of 45 plus branch and distributor locations.
These new members join 95 other Indiana businesses that have committed to the Partner Pledge. They also go above and beyond with their commitment to voluntary environmental initiatives. A Partners membership provides each company with opportunities to network with other industries, businesses, nonprofit organizations and governmental entities which share an interest in pollution prevention. They also will benefit from learning about the financial and environmental benefits of pollution prevention projects from the Partners organization. Partners hold quarterly meetings and an annual conference and trade show, enabling members to exchange ideas, receive updates on regulations, and hear pollution prevention success stories.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s (IDEM’s) Office of Program Support provides technical assistance and administrative support to Partners and works in a number of ways to promote pollution prevention activities.
