Edna Baker

Edna (Wilson) True Baker, 95, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Towne Parke in Brazil, on September 23, 2019.

She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on February 19, 1924 the daughter of Ernest Wilson Sr. and Mary Jane (Nelson) Wilson. Edna attended school at New Market, Indiana. She married Donald Lynn True on February 19, 1942. They lived in Yountsville, Indiana, near Crawfordsville, until they went into the Methodist ministry. They served in Catlin, Mecca, Rosedale, Bridgeton, Coal Bluff, Epworth and Bethel churches in Brazil, Perrysville, Eugene, Gessie, Rileysburg, Jamestown, Advance, North Salem, North Union, and Carbon. They retired in Brazil, Indiana in 1974.

Edna was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Brazil. She was a homemaker, liked to cook, garden, sew, quilt, and work puzzles. She began volunteering at the Clay County Hospital Gift Shop in 1987 and continued her service for nearly 30 years. Edna was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #80, quilters of the Carbon United Methodist Church, and held several offices in the Bethel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest C. and Mary Jane Wilson; her husband Donald L. True; sons Leal True and Mike True; a daughter Barbara Ford; step-daughters: Chelly Matthews and Janet Moore; Bill Baker; sisters: Gertrude Cornett, Opal I. Hickey, Gladys M. Harrison, Edith Miller, Fern Wilson, and Zora “Sue” Haynes; brothers: Ernest “Bud” Wilson and John Wilson.

She married Marian Eugene Baker on April 28, 1988; he also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Phyllis Murphy (Ron) of Monroe, La, Carole Hedge (Ron) of Brazil, In, Thomas True (Jan) of Franklin, In, Peggy Jo Campbell (Bob) of Dugger, In, and Russell True (Leanne) of Centerpoint, In; son-in-law Ralph Ford of Crawfordsville; step-children: Dick Baker (Ellen); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members who are loved very much.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 4:00pm until 7:30pm. Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:30pm. Services will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday at 10:00am. Burial will be held at Calcutta Cemetery.
