CLAY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces traffic will be shifted onto the new State Road 46 Bridge over the Eel River Friday, September 13. Motorists are encouraged to be alert to this traffic pattern change. Motorists will be flagged around during the relocation of the two temporary traffic signals in the one lane sections on both ends of the project.
After the traffic switch, the contractor will continue working on the tie-ins, the areas connecting the new pavement to the existing pavement at both ends of the project. It is anticipated traffic will be in its final configuration by mid-October.
Force Construction Co. was awarded this project for $8.4 million. The new bridge is built just south of the current structure.
