City Of Greencastle Announces Street Repaving Projects

 

(Greencastle, Ind.) The City of Greencastle announced today that it has entered into a contract with Wabash Valley Asphalt for its annual street resurfacing work, accounting for nearly 8,000 linear feet of street repairs.

 

Effective September 11, 2019, the streets listed below will be repaired under the contract.   Substantial completion of the work is expected by October 31; however, weather may impact the overall work schedule.

 

Deer Field Drive – From Quail Ridge Drive to Fawn View Lane

Work includes pavement removal and milling, installation of underdrains, construction of

new pavement, and pavement overlay.

 

Quail Ridge Drive

Work includes some curb replacement and pavement overlay.

 

Ridgeland Road – From west of Longcastle Drive to Round Barn Road

Work includes spot pavement repair, limited curb replacement, and pavement overlay.

 

Berry Street – From Indiana Street to Putnamville Street

Work includes spot pavement repair, limited curb replacement, and pavement overlay.

 

Sherwood Neighborhood – Sherwood Drive and Ravenswood Drive

Work includes limited curb replacement, adjusting storm water inlets, and pavement

overlay.

 

Elizabeth Street – From Rockville Road to Madison Street

Work includes spot pavement repair and pavement overlay.

 

Woodhaven Drive – From Primrose Court to South Street

Work includes replacement of deteriorated concrete street sections and curbs.

 

Several of the streets will have curbs repaired and storm water inlets reset to improve storm water drainage. During the construction period, traffic will be maintained by Wabash Valley Asphalt. Neighbors are urged to use caution in the construction areas

 

The $638,000 road improvement project is being funded through the Department of Public Works under a contract approved by the Board of Works.

 

Bids were received for several additional streets; however, the overall costs exceeded the available funds. Streets that could not be done in 2019 will be considered for work in 2020.

 

In addition to the road projects listed above, the city also will be resurfacing most of the drives in Forest Hill Cemetery and reworking the Greencastle Police Department’s parking lot to comply with ADA requirements. These two projects are supported by EDIT funds.
