Chip Seal Preservation continues on State Road 47 and State Road 25

MONTGOMERY AND PARKE COUNTIES – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces two chip seal preservation projects are scheduled to begin next week, weather permitting. Work is scheduled to begin on S.R. 47 from State Road 234 to the Montgomery/Parke County line on or after Monday, August 12.  Work is scheduled to last through Thursday, August 15.

Crews will begin on State Road 25 from S.R. 32 to just south of Wingate on Wednesday, August 14 and continue through early the following week.

Drivers can expect lane restrictions and traffic directed by flaggers while INDOT maintenance crews maintain access for vehicles. Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route. If driving through the chip seal work zone, drivers should take extra caution, drive slowly and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent stone chips from damaging windshields or paint.

Once the chip seal has cured, crews will sweep the highway clear of loose stone, apply a fog seal surface coat and paint pavement markings.
