Virginia H. Wilcox, 87, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, in Whitlock Place, Crawfordsville.
Born Aug. 1, 1931, at Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Glen and Mary (Hymer) Hayworth. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1949 and Hanover College. She was a charter member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at Hanover and stayed involved with her chapter.
Virginian was a lifelong member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville. She enjoyed her many local memberships: Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Association of University Women, the Montgomery County Historical Society, the Lew Wallace Study and volunteered at the Old Jail.
She married David M. Wilcox on Oct. 11, 1958, at the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: daughter Susan (Jeff) Mowbray of Crawfordsville; son Bruce (Candra) Wilcox of Loveland, Colorado; and six grandchildren, Travis (Cassi) Grundy and Sean (Molly) Grundy of Crawfordsville, Haley Grundy of Lafayette, Megan (Dan) Whitmer of Stafford, Virginia, and Jacob and Phillip Wilcox of Loveland, Colorado. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kaden Grundy of Crawfordsville and Milo and Emma Whitmer of Stafford, Virginia.
A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, July 12 at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. Burkhart Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, IN 47933; or the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
