Jacob Hoke

Jacob Hoke, 35, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Brazil and Terre Haute, and Seattle, and Las Vegas, and Melbourne, Florida, passed away on June 30, 2019 following a 7 year long battle with “Marla”, the cancerous tumor he dearly despised.

Jacob was born on March 27, 1984, in Brazil, Indiana the son of Richard and Shannon (Burk) Hoke. He graduated from Terre Haute South High School with the class of 2002. Later he graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Computer Science.

Jacob packed as much life into 35 years as a person possibly could. He loved traveling and would move nearly on a whim. He had no fear of change and loved to experience all he could. In his early 20’s his love for playing guitar in several bands would eventually lead him to tour as a “rock star”. During that time he developed a passion to play Poker. He became incredibly skilled in his trade – just ask him, he’d tell ya. Jacob wrote and published several technical articles related to poker. Jacob coached Poker players all over the world including Europe and Asia. These adventures afforded him the opportunity to travel to many places around the world including Italy.

Back home in Indianapolis he worked as a Software Engineer for Ntracts who were very supportive of him during his battle.

Jacob “Bae Bee” started dating Brittany Marsh “Sweetie My Sweetie” in 2013 and they were engaged about a year later. Jacob and Brittany spent the next 6 years together raising their furbaby family: Lefty (his favorite), Rey, and Meow, and traveling.

Jacob is also survived by his parents: Rick Hoke and Shannon Shuler and husband Dennis; a brother Justin of Indianapolis; maternal grandmother: Janice Burk; as well as many aunts and uncles and extended family members and friends.

Jacob was blessed to have a few very close friends that he would have wanted acknowledged too: Desmond, Tony, Eric, Dustin, Kyle, Sarah, and Brandon (despite of his fantasy football attitude).

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
