Comments: Northview won the 2019 Tiger Cub Inv. by 9 shots over the Tiger Cubs and Southmont. The Knights were the most consistent team Saturday in putting together a 348 score to the Cubs and Mounties 357. The weather cooperated until early afternoon when it began to drizzle, but by this time most of the players completed their 18 holes. The Tiger Cubs had three competitive scores, but once again not able to put a fourth score to secure the win. Conner and Jaxon had two of the three low scores in the tournament and Tyler came through with his lowest 18 hole score of the year. We continue to struggle with putting the ball in play to make iron shots that make it to the greens so pars and bogeys are possible. Putting is slowly getting better as we have been able to practice different lengths and speed of the putts. This is the one area where mistakes are very costly; missing too many short putts adds up quickly when trying to score, a two foot miss is the same as a 200 yard drive. The Cubs were also without Benton Parmley as he was not in today’s lineup and had to count a score much higher that he probably would have shot. The next week is crucial for the Cubs as they have matches Monday thru Thursday, not much practice but lots of matches. This might be what we need to turn the corner for the season; two home matches and two away matches.
Next Match: Monday at Tiger Pointe against Danville at 4:30– then Tuesday in a makeup match with Cloverdale at Clover Meadows at 4:30.
