Russell Edward Pittman

Russell Pittman, 95, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home in Crawfordsville. 

He was born April 22, 1924, at Sullivan, a son of the late Alfred and Sarah (Hiatt) Pittman.

He graduated from Sullivan High School and entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1943. Russell served during World War II and was on the 419th Night Fighter Squadron, receiving many honors and medals.

On March 27, 1946, he married Rosemary (Sisk) Pittman at Sullivan. She passed away April 7, 2007.

Russell was a machinist for Standard Change-Makers Inc. who was a dedicated employee for 40 years. He had a love for all animals and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, cooking, being with family, playing cards and checkers.

Survivors include: children, Charles Russell (Tootsie) Pittman of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Lisa (Kevin) Cabell of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Clinton) Asbury, Kevin Cabell, Lauren (Patrick) Karle and Mariah Williams; great-grandchildren: Breannah (Kullen) Bonebrake, Brittney (Jose) Hernandez, Austin (Alexa) Asbury, Alec Asbury, Tristan Karle and Dylan Kelly; great-great-grandchildren, Beckett Bonebrake, Kohen Bonebrake and Eisley Hernandez.

In addition to his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by an infant daughter; son Steven R. Pittman; and grandson Jeremiah Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military rites will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
