Stephen Paquin Comments: The Tiger Cubs and Mounties played at Tiger Pointe CC on Wednesday in a 9 hole match; won by the Tiger Cubs by the score of 177 to 186. Leading the Cubs with 41″s were Jaxon and Conner, followed by Benton, Tyler, Vincent, Lathen, and Josh. The match was played on a sunny, but extremely windy day which led to much higher scores than normal. All players were affected by strong gusts that made ball striking, chipping, and putting difficult. It’s very difficult to control ball flight, distance, and direction when hitting shots into the wind or downwind. For the most part we were able to make shots that were on target, but ended up long or short and caused everyone to make bogeys and doubles. Making things more difficult were greens that had been sanded to fill in the holes made by aerification. It made putting and chipping much harder and caused many misses which led to high scores. We continue to make improvements in ball striking which will make for lower scores. Our younger and less experienced players are getting valuable practice playing in these conditions.
Next Match: Sat. April 20 at Rea Park in Terre Haute for the TH South Bob Arnett Inv. at 10:20 a.m.
