Fred White of Darlington passed away Sunday morning at Wellbrooke. He was 80.
Fred started working at the seed company in Crawfordsville before going to work at Mid-States, where he spent 37 years, after which he worked two years at Stalcop in Thorntown. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Darlington and was an avid fan of the Bill Gaither Homecoming. He served his country in the U.S. Army. In his earlier days, he did a lot of hunting and fishing.
Born Feb. 24, 1938 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Forest White and Lydia Goetz White. He attended school at Bowers before graduating from Linden High School. He married Reta Patton on August 23, 1959. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife, Reta White of Darlington; two sons, Bruce White of Linden and Mark (Priscilla) White of Darlington; sister, Judy Baker; seven grandchildren, Brenden, Anthony, Caitlyn, Crystal, Holly, Caleb, Faith; four great-grandchildren, Teagan, Faye, Liam and Adeline.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will not be any public viewing. Graveside services will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Oak Hill Cemetery North, led by his son, Pastor Bruce White. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
