Putnamville Offenders Create History at Townsend Inn

An opportunity to restore and preserve Putnamville history presented itself a year ago to the Indiana Department of Correction at the site of the historic Townsend Inn.

Over a year’s time, the restoration process has been completed with the help of over 50 people, including 4 teams of workers from the Putnam County Jail and the IDOC Putnamville Correctional Facility. The offender teams were invaluable and assisted in constructing lovely brick walkways for the museums.

The Grand Opening of the Townsend/Layman Museum will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00pm.
