Maria Ellen Novotney, 60, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 29, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Paul and Donna Novotney.
Maria was a 1976 graduate of Schulte High School and studied at Metropolitan State College in Denver, leading to her professional career as a lease contract analyst in the oil and gas industry.
Her love of the mountains and snow lead her to Denver in 1978, where she became a long-time resident. Family, friends and traveling were Maria’s passion. She loved volunteering at the local rescue animal shelter and made every effort to ensure homeless pets would have a safe, happy and loving future with their new owners as she had provided for her own beloved dogs. She also supported the local arts community and will be forever remembered for her optimism, spunk and great sense of humor.
Maria is survived by two sisters, Paula Novotney Sexton, Gloria Novotney (R. Kent Baker) and two brothers, Joe Novotney (Bonnie), and Chris Novotney (Kim). She also leaves behind nephews J. Scott Novotney (Kim) and Jordan Novotney; nieces, Chrislyn Davis (Seth), Jill Norman (Ben), Shambra Jennings (Jim). Great-nieces Cadence Novotney, Burke Mae Davis and Kate Maria Novotney (Goddaughter) along with great-nephew Gibson Davis. Maria is also survived by several dear friends of many years.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Maria’s honor on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5:30-8:30PM at The Ohio Building, 672 Ohio Street, Terre Haute, Indiana.
