Millie “Doyne” Hepburn, 85, passed through death’s curtain to meet the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2018, at home in Ocala, Florida.
Born to George and Millie Hoover on Nov. 3, 1932, at Hillsdale, Indiana, she spent her childhood in Terre Haute and Danville, Illinois, graduating from Danville High School.
Doyne worked for Illnois Bell Telephone Company as an engineer clerk, producing drafting plans.
She met William “Bill” Hepburn of Fairmount, Illinois, at the Illiana Skating Rink and later married him in 1955. They started their family in Danville and Georgetown, Illinois, where they had Bill (Lois) of Crawfordville and twins, Bob (Juliana) of Naperville, Illinois, and Barry of Indianapolis. They lived in Lebanon and then Darlington for many years before moving to Savannah, Georgia, and then Ocala.
Along with her husband, Bill, she is also survived by eight grandchildren, Mallory (Matthew) Stripling, Reed, Mackenzie, Morgan, Madeline, Caleb, Samuel and Peter Hepburn; and two great-grandchildren, Scott and Dorothea Stripling.
Doyne was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Charles, Harold, Neil, George and Victor Hoover. She leaves one niece, Jay Thomason of Fithian, Illinois, and one nephew, George Raymond Hoover of York, Pennsyvlania.
Doyne and her husband are members of Woodside Baptist Church in Ocala. She was a proficient and talented TOLE painter who loved America, animals and Mickey Mouse.
A celebration of life service will be held June 20 at Harvest Church in Crawfordsville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for visiting with a service starting at 8 p.m.
