Friendly Competition Added to the Line Up for First Friday


The Greencastle First Friday Celebration for June will feature some friendly competition as well as the usual music and food on the Courthouse square this Friday June 1.

In addition to Cornhole, a First Friday staple, Pickleball will be featured along Franklin Street.  The Pickleball set up will be just east of the north stage and will allow people to learn about and experience the new sport.

A 10-team double elimination tournament will also be taking place on Franklin Street.  The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. and the cost to enter is $20.  There will be a $100 cash price for the winners.  Email with participants names to enter.

The First Friday Event will have plenty of music and food on hand to provide plenty of entertainment as well.

DJ Big Daddy “A” will kick things off at 5:30 p.m., followed by The Lemon Brothers at 6:30 p.m. on the north courthouse stage.

Getting things started at 5 p.m. on South Indiana Street, will be ZooSoul Drum Circle, followed by Jack Gibson at 6 p.m.  MLE will then finish off the night on South Indiana with an 8 p.m. set.

War Radio will be appearing outside, instead of the normal set up inside the Swizzle Stick, with a performance set for 9 p.m.

There will be plenty of food and drink specials available from Bon Appetit, Bridges Craft Pizza and Wine Bar, Hatchets Barbecue, Moore’s Bar, Myers’ Market, Tap House 24, The Fluttering Duck and Wasser Brewing, Completely Nuts and Candy, and of course Almost Home/Swizzle Stick.

The Studio Suite Salon will be celebrating it’s grand opening from 4-8 p.m. at 110 Vine St.   The event will include raffles for prizes and services and sweet treats from Blondie’s and Brownie’s.

Game On vacation Bible school will take place in two sessions at Myers’ 5 East. Game On activities will include a lesson, music, games and activities.

Time choices include 6 and 8 p.m. Kids can be registered in advance at or at the door if there are spots remaining.

Due to space, participation is limited to 50 kids per time slot. Kids going into grades first through fourth grades are welcome.

Other stores and businesses on the square will also offer specials for First friday.
