Norma Jean Heater, 81, of Crawfordsville passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, in the Williamsburg Healthcare of Crawfordsville.
She was born Oct. 20, 1936, in Montgomery County, to Leland and Elsie Lucille (Geiger) Axsom.
Norma Jean was retired from WM Plastics in Crawfordsville, where she had been a press operator. She also had worked at Zachary Candies in Frankfort; was a bartender at Treeces Bar in Rossville; and worked at Sears in West Lafayette.
She was a member of the Crawfordsville First Church of the Nazarene, and attended the Fremont Street Baptist Church. She also had been a member of the Crawfordsville VFW Auxiliary; and in her free time enjoyed Bingo, euchre and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Roudebush, Noblesville, Glenda Church (companion Stanley Wrightsman), Waveland, and Amy Grayson, Indianapolis; and son Dennis (Nina) Grayson, Crawfordsville; sisters, Lena Mings, Crawfordsville, Kathy VanCleave, New Ross, and Martha (Barry) Cowell, Avon; brothers, Rex (Diane) Cooksey and Terry (Lisa) Cooksey, both of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Ann Cooksey, Carolyn Nicholls and Pat Ward; and brothers, Robert and Leland Jr. Axsom.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon, Saturday, Jan. 20 at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home. Friends may call 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery at Elmdale.
