Dorothy A. Latta passed away on her birthday, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital from complications from a recent stroke.
She was born January 14, 1932 in Brazil, In. to Helen M. (Fuqua) and Bryan E. Trout. She graduated from Brazil High School. On August 21, 1954, she married Robert Latta. In her younger years Dorothy worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Raleigh Phillips and Dr. John Pell. When she wasn’t working or taking care of her family she loved to knit and sew. Dorothy was a very humble person and lived without a lot of modern conveniences. She dedicated her life to the raising and education of her daughter Susan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Latta, a son Samuel Latta, and a daughter Dr. Susan M. Latta, PHD, two brothers Bryan E. Trout Jr. and John W. Trout; one sister-in-law Beverly Trout and a brother-in-law Richard Latta.
She is survived by one sister Virginia M. Leifheit; sister-in-law Rose Latta; nieces Pam Leifheit, Melissa Davis, and Jane Grounds; nephews Steve Trout, Doug Trout, Mike Latta, Jim Latta, Kent Latta and several great nieces and nephews; and her daughter’s beloved dog Marlowe, a Westie.
Dorothy’s wishes were to be cremated with a memorial service at a later date.
