Donna Ann Gibson, 77, of Ladoga, passed away at 11:53 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1 at the Community Heart and Vascular Center in Castleton, Ind.
She was born on March 5, 1940 at Russellville to the late Donovan and Mary (Gardner) Shoaf.
She married Thomas E. Gibson on March 29, 1958 in Jeffersonville. They were married for 59 years.
Donna graduated in 1958 from Bainbridge High School.
As a young girl she ran a paper route with her brother, Jimmy. She worked for the State Highway Department for six years.
She retired in 1998 after 33 years dedicated to the North Putnam Superintendent’s Office as bookkeeper and treasurer.
She was a member of the New Maysville Christian Church.
She enjoyed traveling, riding horses, camping and baking. After retiring she enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles.
She and Thomas lived in Donna, Texas, for five years and Greers Ferry, Ark., for seven years before returning back home in Indiana.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Gibson, of Ladoga; her daughter, Carla Gibson, of Washington, Ind.; two grandchildren, Amber (Neal) Wallace, of Columbus, and Joshua (Stacy) Simpson, of Washington, Ind.; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Ady, Grace and Daniel; one sister, Jeannie Demoret; a niece, Gina; a nephew, Jimmy; a great niece, Britni; and a great-great niece, Skye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Shoaf, her infant son Jackie, and nephew Johnny Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, with Pastor Nathan Powell officiating.
Burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
