County Commissioners learned yesterday that the amount of hazardous waste coming into Putnam county is falling, but with that also comes a reduction of money going into the Hazardous Waste Fund the county has used to supplement budgets for other county services. This year the county only seen a income of $310,000 compared to just 3 years ago when the county took in $1.3 million. The fund must have a balance of $1.6 million for Emergency Operations Center bond. Officials say the reduction of hazardous waste coming into the county is because of E.P.A. changes on how contaimenated soil is treated on site now.
