St. Vincent Clay Hospital has donated $5,700 to Meridian Street Elementary’s backpack food program. The hospital raised money during their November Festival of Trees and have given their donation to completely pay for the food program this school year. The backpack food program dedicates time every Friday to fill plastic bags with groceries and give the bags to 60 children to feed them over the weekend. Meridian Street Elementary is one of seventeen Indiana schools with a program like this. St. Vincent is doing a study on the effectiveness of this program.
