After a nearly three month investigation into missing funds from the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department, officers with the Indiana State Police Putnamville District have arrested the former Madison Township VFD treasurer. Arrested was Tammy Dickerson, age 45, of Greencastle. Dickerson was arrested for the charges of two counts of Theft and two counts of Official Misconduct. Dickerson was booked into the Putnam County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond. In November 2016, Indiana State Police were contacted by members of the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department (MTVFD) about potential missing funds from the department’s bank accounts. A subsequent investigation revealed that on several occasions in years 2014 through 2016, Tammy Dickerson in her previous position as treasurer, is alleged to have utilized MTVFD funds totaling approximately $80,216.72 for personal use, such as cash withdrawals, personal bills, and purchases at local retail stores. The case was investigated by ISP Detective Brian Maudlin. On March 10th 2017, after an attempt by Indiana State Police Troopers and Greencastle Police officers to serve a warrant for Dickerson’s arrest, she was spotted at her residence that evening by GPD officers and taken into custody.
