Members of the Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police recently made a donation of $4,000 to the Indiana Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS). The contribution comes from the proceeds of this year’s Putnam County Law Enforcement Officers (PCLEO) 5K Fun Run and the FOP Golf Scramble. Each year, between 140 and 160 officers are killed in the line of duty. The COPS network provides resources to help rebuild the devastated lives of the families of officers killed in the life of duty. There is no membership fee to join COPS, for the price has been paid in spades by too many. Putnam County FOP Lodge President Jerrod Baugh stated, “I am very proud of the hard work these officers put into our events for this cause. The COPS organization was there for my family in our time of sorrow and continues to support those families forced into these realities.” Citizens are encouraged to look for, and participate, in the Putnam County FOP annual events in 2017, and sponsorships are always welcome.
