George Erwin, 68, of Brazil passed away October 18, 2016 at Springhill Village Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 21, 1948 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Luther and LaDonna (Pollom) Erwin. On June 6, 1974 he married Carolyn Sue Minnick.He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1966 and attended Indiana Business College. After college he worked for Hedge’s Ford Dealership as an accountant and later retired as dispatcher for Brazil City Police Department. He also played in the Brazil High School band and in the Brazil Concert Band and Jackson Township Band. George’s greatest joy was being able to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Erwin of Brazil; children, Brandee Gardner-Coltharp and Brian Erwin; father, Luther Erwin; grandchildren, Dylan Coltharp and friend Susie McGovern, Lucas Erwin, Danielle Secrest and husband Ryan and their children, Conner and Parker; two sisters, Vicky Erwin and Jean O’Dell; one brother Casey Erwin and wife Danielle; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, LaDonna Erwin; brother, Samuel Erwin; brother-in-law Gary O’Dell; father and mother-in-law, Morris and Genevieve Minnick.
Services will be Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1pm at Lawson Miller Chapel. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at 10am until time of the services at the funeral home. Visit www.lawson-millerchapel.com to leave a note of condolence.
