Emma Wilson of Greencastle High School did something that she will always remember on Saturday by winning the Ben Davis Cross-Country Regional on the girls side. Her 18:09.1 finish was enough to beat Sophia Rigg of Zionsville by 4.48 seconds.

Several other runners also advanced. For the girls, Greencastle’s only senior, Shelby Kallem finished seventh among runners from non-advancing teams, Cloverdale’s Chelsie Edwards finished eighth and South Putnam’s Maddie McHugh finished ninth. The top ten runners from non-advancing schools all advanced.

On the boy’s side, South Putnam finished fourth as a team and will advance to next week’s semi-state. The top five teams advanced. Clayton Wilson (fourth) and Cameron Lewis (seventh), both from Greencastle, will also advance.

The semi-state will be at Shelbyville High School next Saturday at 3 p.m.
