Stephen Douglas Clark, 69, of Brazil, passed away September 18, 2016 at Indiana University IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stephen was born February 9, 1947 in Greencastle, the son of the late Emerson and Mary (Duell) Clark. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1965. Stephen attended Vincennes University and then enlisted with the United States Army where he served overseas in Germany from 1966 until 1968. Following his military service he returned and entered into business with his father at A&C Enterprises in Reelsville. Stephen worked there until he sold the business in 1991. He finished his working career as an Operating Engineer with Local 841 with the last 18 years being with Lincoln Park Stone in Putnamville.
Stephen married the love of his life Elizabeth Strange on March 5, 1972. Together they had two daughters, Emily Johnson (Shane) and Stephanie McQueen (Clint) and granddaughter, Shelby Johnson. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #409 and Staunton Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors with his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, daughters, and granddaughter he is survived by his siblings, Rebecca McPheeters Ellson (Steven) and Kevin Clark (Sherry); brother-in-law, Harrison Strange (Vickie); as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his k9 companion, Charlie Emerson Clark.
Services will be Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00am at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Doug Parkey officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery with the United States Army performing military honors. Visitation will be Thursday at 4pm-7pm at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be performed Thursday at 7pm to conclude visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to The Good House, 527 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202. The Good House provided room and board for Elizabeth and her family to be near Stephen.
