Thursday, September 22nd, Putnam County partakes in our leg of the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay, and everyone is invited out to any of a number of celebration sites to soak up this historical moment. From 5PM through 8PM the Torch Relay will transect Putnam County from west to east as torch bearers make their way through Putnamville, Greencastle, Fillmore, Heritage Lake, and Bainbridge. Our county is just one of 92 counties the torch will travel through between September 9th and October 15th as the relay continues on a 3200 mile journey across Indiana before concluding with a grand celebration at the Statehouse. And did you know there’s a free Indiana Torch Relay app, which allows you to keep track of the relay progress and events around the state. Each of Putnam County’s twenty-one torch bearers are nominated locals with a unique connection to the county.
