Rosland M. Orman, 89, of Clay City, passed away, September 11, 2016 peacefully in her home. She was born March 31, 1927, in Clay County, the daughter of Luther Paul McCreery and Wilma Carr McCreery. On February 23, 1946, Rosland was united in marriage to Robert E. Orman. Together, they raised their five children in Clay County.
Rosland has been a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a student of genealogy and enjoyed the Center Point Genealogy Library. She was also very interested in technology. She texted with family and friends, and using her iPad she enjoyed looking at pictures and even had her own Instagram account.
Survivors include her husband Robert “Bob” Orman of Clay City; children, Robert L. Orman and wife Connie of Brazil, Barbara Modesitt and husband Alvin of Cory, Alice Hankins and husband Matt of Martinsville, IN, Peggy Orman of Terre Haute, and Charles E. Orman and wife Sherri of Clay City; grandchildren, Tom Orman (Angela), Angel Robinson (Chris), Anita Hernandez, Daniel Hankins (fiancé Kerry O’Connell) and Allyson Hankins; great-grandchildren, Jeff, Brittany, Dakota, Jadison, and Aysiah; sisters, Carol Brown, Barbara Newport (Donavan), Shirley Christensen; brothers, Max McCreery (Earlene), and George McCreery (Lu); also many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Ruth Walker and Betty Summerlot; one brother Don McCreery.
The family gathered for a graveside service on Tuesday at 11:00am at Beech Cemetery. Pastor Steve Blaydes officiated. The Orman family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for all the care and compassion extended over these past three years. Funeral services were provided by Schoppenhorst Funeral Home.
