Mark William Meyers Sr., 58, of Clay County, passed away unexpectedly, August 18, 2016 at St. Vincent Clay Emergency Room.
He was born February, 11, 1958, in Gary, Indiana the son of Marvin W. and Colleen (Gleason) Meyer. He graduated from Portage High School in 1976 and later attended Purdue Northwest. Mark married Annette Nordyke, in St. John Indiana, on August 2, 1980. He has worked at Menards in Merrillville, and Terre Haute, Indiana for over 24 years.
Mark enjoyed serving the church. He was a member of the Legion of Mary. Locally, he served as the Vice President for the Ark of the Covenant Praesidium and was appointed president 2 weeks ago. Currently, Mark was serving on the Parish Council and had served on the Financial Council. He enjoyed organizing the Corpus Christi Procession and serving the church in as many ways possible.
Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he has served as Grand Knight.
Mark had a great capacity for love and always made everyone feel welcome. Mark adored his children and his wife. He enjoyed the outdoors, collecting wood for his wood boiler, playing cards, and his Chicago sports teams, but more than that he loved Jesus and his church. He will be greatly missed by all of his church family.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Colleen Meyer and 2 children: Ronald Marvin Meyers and Francis M. Meyers and his father-in-law Ralph M. Nordyke.
Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years Annette Meyers; their 6 children: Adrianne Lankford and husband David, Mark W. Meyers Jr. and wife Bralynne, Matthew Meyers, Kirk Meyers and wife Kayla, Grant Meyers, Alysha Meyers and fiance Joel, and Ignatius Wilson; 9 grandchildren: Benjamin Lankford, Alexa Lankford, Kullen Meunier, Katherine Meyers, Klaire Meyers, Konnor Meyers, Amaya Meyers, Owen Meyers, and Emma Meyers; and a brother Robert Meyers and wife Kelly; mother-in-law Henrietta Nordyke; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ralph Nordyke Jr., Carrie Roach and husband Steve, Jeffrey Nordyke and wife Cary, and Daniel Nordyke; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Requiem Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Annunciation Catholic Church, in Brazil, Indiana. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, Friday, from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 12:00pm.
