Former firefighter and township trustee pleads guilty to theft

Former Hendricks County Firefighter and former Brown Township trustee Troy Wymer pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and was sentenced to almost a year on probation. An official misconduct charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement reached with Hendricks County prosecutors. The current Brown Township Trustee Tom Kmetz reported to Indiana State Police that Wymer paid himself six extra checks from the Brown Township account totaling close to $10,000. Wymer served as the trustee from January 2011 to December 2014. Kmetz is furious prosecutors reached a plea deal with Wymer and Wymer is not required to pay restitution to the township. Wymer said he is back working at the Wayne Township Fire Department, where he had initially been placed on paid administrative leave pending theft and official misconduct charges.
