Competition to Design Bicentennial Map of Local Art

The Greencastle Arts Council (GAC), in conjunction with the Putnam County Bicentennial Committee and the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau (PCCVB), have organized an artistic competition resulting in a Putnam County commissioned art piece. Participating artists in Putnam County are invited to submit a concept/design proposal for a two-dimensional map that illustrates the locations of public art and arts venues in the county. Cash awards totaling $625 will be awarded in two rounds. Up to three finalists chosen from the first round will each earn $75 and be invited to move on to the final round, further developing their concepts. The winning artist/team will earn an additional award of $400 upon project completion. The winning map will be printed and distributed by the Visitors Bureau and other county organizations. The map’s purpose is to highlight and promote the art and artists of Putnam County, as well directing visitors and residents to explore the local art. Concept submissions are due by 11:59pm on August 15th. Visit this article at for submission options. Project concepts can be submitted online, or via mail at the address below. The map will be unveiled and the award presented during Putnam County’s Celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial in December. With questions or comments, artists are invited to contact Katherine Newkirk of the Arts Council.
