Hazel Mae (Kidwell) Carmichael McDermont, 96, of Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care following an extended illness.
Mrs. McDermont was born, November 27, 1919 the daughter of Richard Perry and Essie Hazel (Morris) Kidwell. Hazel graduated from Brazil High School.
Hazel was active in the community. She was involved in the Business and Professional Women’s club, the Republican Party, and had been a member of the Brazil First United Methodist Church for more than 70 years.
Hazel was preceded in death by two husbands: Harold Carmichael and Bob McDermont her brother Herbert Riley Kidwell and a sister Mary Catherine Kidwell.
Hazel is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Virginia Bell Kidwell Applegate and husband James; 3 nieces, Linda Sue Applegate, Deborah Kay Washington and Barbara Anderson, a nephew Bill Kidwell; great-nieces Mary Catherine Applegate, Heather Leigh Lank, Johnna Anderson – Ashton, Paula Anderson, Ann Howes and Jill Myers; great-nephews: Will Anderson, John Riley Anderson and Steve Kidwell; 4 great-great-nieces, Austen Breanne Applegate, Brandi JoAnne Pulley, Paige Elizabeth and Madison Marie Anthrop; 2 great-great nephews: James Edward Pulley and Jeffrey David Pulley; 1 great-great-great niece Anastasia June Cruz.
Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, Brazil, Indiana 47834 Thursday, from 11am until 1:00pm.
