Swift sales nationwide have prompted Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) officials to raise Friday’s estimated Mega Millions jackpot from $508 million to $540 million. If won Friday, the $540 million jackpot would be the third largest in the history of the game and offers a potential winner the chance to take payment of $540 million as a 30-year annuity or in a one-time lump sum payment of $380 million (both before taxes). The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for more than three months, since it was last hit for $157 million in March. Mega Millions isn’t the only big money up for grabs in Indiana this week. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is an estimated $288 million.
