The Putnam County Highway Department has finished patching chuck holes on Keightly Road in Greencastle. The department used a mixture of rock and oil to create a semi-permanent fix. The county determined after much discussion in the Putnam County Courthouse during several commissioners meetings that the chuck holes presented a safety hazard that needed to be addressed. The issue with just fixing the road was that Keightly Road isn’t owned by the county and is actually classified as a privately owned driveway. However through much discussion the commissioners and highway department decided it was within everyone’s best interest to repair the road regardless of who owned it.
