On June 16th Sgt. Charlie Hallam, and Officer Tyler Turn of the Cloverdale Police Department were investigating a motor vehicle accident on I-70 West at the 46MM. Witnesses advised the officers that occupants from one of the vehicles involved in the accident got out of their vehicle and was acting strange in the grass area near where they stopped. Officer Turner made contact with the occupants and he requested a K9 to conduct a search of the vehicle for possible narcotics. K9 Chewy gave a positive alert for narcotics which resulted in the finding of said narcotics and paraphernalia items in a back pack located in the trunk of the car. The K9 team then searched the area around the vehicle and was able to locate more narcotics and a blue bag with 2 large Ziploc bags of marijuana about 40 yards from the vehicle in a wooded area. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested for possession of narcotics, paraphernalia and other charges.
