Duke Energy’s Tips to Save You Money This Summer

As citizens crank up their cooling systems to combat sweltering temperatures, Duke Energy offers customers these suggestions for managing energy costs to save money this summer. Set your AC to the lowest comfortable setting. Every degree increases savings by approximately 5 percent in cooling costs. Energy Star recommends a minimum set point of 78 degrees. Change or clean your air filters monthly. Inspect and service your HVAC. Don’t cool your house while you are out of your home. Close blinds, grill outdoors, use fans in occupied rooms, turn off unnecessary lights and finally seal air leaks with caulking and weather stripping.
