Robert J. Jones

Robert J. Jones, 95, of Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, in Knightsville, Indiana following a brief illness.

Robert was born January 8, 1921, in Rocky Fork, Indiana, the son of John Nicholas and Blanche Sylvia (Morlan) Jones. Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Milwaukee from 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1946 a Storekeeper 1st Class after 4 years of service. He married Lois Riggle, April 12, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2014 after 68 years of marriage. Mr. Jones worked as a carpenter and brick mason. Much of his life was spent building churches across the U.S.. He also served on the Brazil City Council, was a dedicated member of the Brazil Church of the Nazarene where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and a bus driver, he was awarded the key to the city in 1991.

In addition to his parents John and Blanche Jones and his wife Lois, he was preceded in death by two children: Michael Jones and Victoria Jones Daniels; a brothers George Eldon Jones, Kenneth Jones, James Jones, John Jones, Gene Jones; a sister Mildred Vanatti, two sisters in infancy: Dorothy Jones and Norma Jones.

He is survived by two sons: Robert “Bob” Jones and wife Sharlene of Interprise, Alabama and Steve Jones and wife Debbie of Brazil; brothers: Norman Jones and wife Carol of Dade City, Florida, Ronald Wayne Jones and wife Karen of Indianapolis; a sister Betty Syster of Florida; as well as many, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

At his request, there will be no services. Cremation has been entrusted to French Funeral Home, in Brazil.
